Ed Bishop

The Early Days

When I was 18 I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I knew one thing for sure. I didn’t want to ever have to work. I mean who does at age 18?

A year later, frozen pizzas and Ramen noodles had taken it’s toll. I had to figure something out soon, so I could eat and pay the bills. It was then when I discovered broadcasting.

No…not Television broadcasting. My looks at the time definitely hindered those chances. But bad looks and a half mullet didn’t matter for radio broadcasting. All I had to do was talk.

The very first time I turned on the mic, I was hooked! I knew this was something I could do…and have FUN at the same time. This wasn’t work at all. It was great! Unfortunately…I was a terrible disc jockey and the pay really, really sucked. Luckily for me, I discovered the audio production studio.

I could still use a microphone, but I could also play around with all kinds of cool sound effects and music beds. And most importantly, I never ever had to play another Backstreet Boys song for a 13-year-old radio listener.

The Career

I started off producing radio imaging using a lot of other people’s voices. It didn’t take long to realize that maybe I should start using my own voice instead.

I moved from station to station up and down the east coast. From the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Jersey Shore to Philadelphia and New York City I spent many late nights obsessed with what I believed to be the greatest gig on the planet.

During my journey I learned to craft my skills as a voice over artist. My first National TV voice over job was a NFL Draft Promo for ESPN. For me, that was the coolest thing EVER! The NFL…ESPN…I was super thrilled to be a part of that.

Since then, my voice has been heard on thousands of radio commercials and hundreds of TV commercials and promos. I’ve been fortunate and lucky enough to have recorded voice overs for some of the world’s most recognizable brands. MTV, Sony, Comcast, FYE, The Philadelphia Eagles, Caesar’s Resort, FOX, Ringling Brothers, and many more.

I’ve also been heard on radio and television stations around the globe. Chances are, if you’ve listened to the radio, watched TV, or surfed the internet, somewhere along the way, you have probably heard my voice.

But I must say that one of my favorite jobs was to land the role of the main character voice for the King of Fighters 10 video game. A very fun martial Arts fighting game on Play Station. The job itself was very cool, but the best part is that I can now actually fight against myself in a video game.

I get to kick my own ass! It’s moments like this that make me reflect back to Ed Bishop at age 19 and think, “Holy crap! You actually found a way to never have to actually work.” I am very lucky!

Please allow me to help your brand find its voice. And let’s work…um, I mean…let’s have fun in this together.
